I hosted this first-ever workshop event for Choice Moms, with 100 women, 25 kids in childcare, 14 speakers, and 12 sponsors/advertisers who have services and products for the educated professional woman who is proactively embracing motherhood.

I hosted a two-hour workshop at "Nobody's Child, Everybody's Children: An International Conference on New Reproductive and Genetic Technologies." My topic was how we redefine families with today's technologies, and the importance of respecting the fact that half-siblings and "birth others" might be important to your child.

This international conference was convened to critically consider legal, legislative, and medical issues about new reproductive and genetic technologies. The event was at Malaspina University-College in Nanaimo, BC, May 24-26.

Spoke about "Single Women and Donor Conception" direct with callers.

This 8-minute video segment featured a discussion about the prevalence of Choice Motherhood today, including why it might neglect a child's longing for father. I gathered a group of Choice Moms and kids together (including mine) for a background shot at a ski hill to show and talk about how we support each other. Very little of that material was used.

I was invited to discuss in San Diego the perspective of Choice Moms and others who choose donor insemination, at the behest of sperm bank directors who are discussing the growing call for industry-wide regulations at the annual AATB conference.

"The goal of the program is to identify critical social issues that will affect sperm banks in the area of public expectations by donors, recipients and donor children."

Was interviewed on camera for the documentary "Plan B, Single Women Choosing Motherhood," produced by BC Films.

A special screening of the film was held Oct. 4, 2006, in New York City.

Participated in a Colorado-based think tank discussion about issues related to the donor insemination industry.

I made an appearance at this midwest trade show for book professionals in St. Paul.

Interview with nationally syndicated Mom Talk Radio show, created by the founder of www.bluesuitmoms.com, for real-life, professional moms. The show is available for download or online listening (I'm at the end of the show).

I met with a group of Los Angeles-area single women who are now Choice Moms, or are contemplating this choice, to discuss issues related this lifestyle. Something similar will be set up in other cities during 2006 and 2007.

Was squeezed in among the authors at the fifth annual book festival in Minneapolis.
